What Kileleshwa is like
Kileleshwa lies roughly 3 to 5 km west of Nairobi CBD, with the Nairobi Arboretum between it and the city centre. It is in Kileleshwa ward (which also covers Muthangari) of Dagoretti North constituency, and in Westlands sub-county. Its original houses stood on plots of three-quarters of an acre to a full acre; once zoning rules allowed higher plot ratios and taller buildings, most were demolished for apartment blocks. In a February 2025 case brought by residents, the Environment and Land Court held that zone 4B of the 2021 Nairobi City Development Control Policy caps buildings at 16 levels.
